The waterfall behind Vinicio's farm

Between Penshurst & Cahuita 20 min hike
Off any tourist map. Vinicio grows cacao on a hillside and lets you cross his land if you ask. The waterfall pool is freezing, clear, and almost always empty.
If you go: Bring $5 for Vinicio, water shoes for the rocks, and don't post a pin. We keep this one quiet on purpose.

Some travelers stay.

Every season a few people come and decide not to leave. We don't list plots publicly — the good ones disappear if we do. Tell Calypso what you're after and we'll send three that fit, with the owner's number. 3% to the seller, 2% to you. Nothing hidden.

Lunch at the off-grid kitchen Yair told me about. No menu, no sign, just the best fish of my life.

A day between the islands. Saw a family of turtles. Captain made ceviche on the boat.

Sat with the elders. They didn't perform anything. They just talked. I'm still thinking about it.

Build the secret

The Caribbean we love runs on locals. Become a Keeper.

Caribe Secreto isn't a catalog — it's a circle of people who know the coast. If you host, guide, cook, drive, or just know who's selling that piece of land, there's a place for you here. And a way to earn from it.

List what you offer

A villa, a ceremony, a boat day, a ride, a retreat. You set the terms, we send you the right people. You keep 85–90%. No upfront cost — we only earn when you do.

Refer & earn

Connect us with someone who hosts, guides, or is selling land. When it works out, you earn — from a share of our cut to up to $1,000 cash on a property sale. Paid clean, paid on time.

Plenty of beach time this week
This is green season, so afternoon showers are normal — but they pass fast and the sun comes back. Of the 7 days, 5 have dry mornings and afternoons good for the beach, jungle, or boat. The rain mostly falls in the late afternoon and overnight, when you'd be at dinner or asleep anyway. Two days are wetter — good for a cacao ceremony, a long lunch, or a massage.

What June normally looks like here

Over the last 30 years, June in Puerto Viejo averages rain on about 18 of 30 days — but almost always as brief afternoon or overnight showers, not all-day rain. Total sunshine hours stay high. Daytime temps hold around 28–31°C. The sea stays warm and swimmable. Locals plan beach mornings and indoor afternoons — and barely notice the rain.
